Kanu Youths Told To Expect Entry of Senior Government Official from Kericho

The Kenya African National Union (KANU) youth who have been camping in Nairobi to strategize how to strengthen the party ahead of 2022 general elections have been hinted that a cabinet Secretary from South Rift who was once a diehard of Deputy President William Ruto was ready to join them.

The thirty-six (36) youth officials comprising a chair from each county have been attending a three-day meeting at the party headquarters.

While concluding the meeting, party chair Gideon Moi who will be vying for presidency ordered for grassroots elections to fill the vacant positions in the youth congress.

“We have been attending meetings at our head office near Yaya centre during the day and spending nights at 680 hotel located at the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD),” a source said.            

With high hopes, our source said “I am glad that I didn’t join the staggering Jubilee. In fact, we were told that a high-ranking government official from Kericho was ready to join Kanu after the fallout with the Deputy President”

When asked of possible cause of the fallout, the source narrated that, the DP wanted him fired but Gideon Moi rescued him by appealing to President Uhuru Kenyatta to spare him.

In his quest to strengthen the party ahead of 2022, Moi promised the delegates that the party has prepared enough resources to fund all the aspirants who will vie on the party.

“We have put in place adequate measures and prepared enough resources to fund aspirants who will vie for various seats on Kanu ticket” he said.

The Baringo Senator has announced that he will be vying for country’s top seat against the Deputy President William Ruto who is also bracing up to succeed Kenyatta.

“I am deeply humbled to have joined the KANU Youth Congress officials at our party headquarters today. I have reiterated that our support for their course, including Jukwaa Talks, is unflinching,” Moi said

The CCM party leader Isaac Ruto is also expected to address the delegates who have been leading a nationwide fora dubbed Jukwaa.

The event was attended by elected Kanu MPs and Members of County Assemblies as well as party aspirants among them Charles Kirui who vied for Kericho Governorship on KANU ticket.

The visit by the Deputy President to Kericho County yesterday raised political temperatures with the absence of Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter who is expected to battle for governorship against Aron Cheruiyot come 2022.
