Tegat Tea Factory Company limited in Belgut, Kericho County that hit the media headlines when its members flooded streets to protest poor bonus payment that were ksh 14 per kilo is back again to media for nasty reasons.
During the September 2019 protests, its farmers barricaded roads leading to the factory and boycotted tea plucking but it has been unveiled as a mother of corrupt entities in the area.
Imagine, while the County residents are decrying of unemployment, somebody who holds a management post at KTDA has hired 9 persons from one family, his uncle with his 8 children.
A source who tipped the County Post gave us nine names that if you are from the region, you must be knowing. They are Erick Kirui (1st born) in machines section, Barnabas Kirui 3rd born – Driver, Nahashon Kirui (4th born)– Driver, Caleb Kirui 5th born.
Others are Gideon Kirui -6th born who has for ages winning tender to trim grass and edges and plant flowers, Elphas kirui 7th born – machines section, Milka Chepngeno chepkwony ( last born) at CTC section, Evaline Kirui (wife to Caleb Kirui) is tea field officer.
Caroline kirui (wife to Barnabas Kirui ) is at tea testing section Toror factory, branch of Tegat factory while David Chepkwony (uncle to the above) serves at Accounts section.
Our attempts to get a comment from the factory manager identify with one name Mr. Orao went futile when our phone calls went answered.
