The Ethics and Anti-corruption detectives have today apprehended six Kericho County Government Officials together with a trader who have been jointly engaging in corrupt deals.
The officers among them are Peter Kipyegon Koskey(Roads CO), Joash Chirchir (Civil Engineer), Charles Mabwai(Procurement officer), Haron Njoroge(Accountant), Stanley Ruto(Roads Inspector),Lilian Chepkoech Kirui( Roads inspector),John Kikutai Rotich( Director Jawlink).
According to statement released today and signed by EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak, the officers, irregularly awarded contract for construction of Kapsimotwet-Kibaraa road to Jawlink logistics.
Mr. Twalib one of the nabbed officials Lilian Chepkoech was also found to be a director of company that was not pre-qualified with the county and is not registered with National Construction Authority (NCA) as required.
The statement reveals that the arrest was informed by the directives from the Director of Public Prosecutions after going through the investigation documents.
The suspects will be arraigned by anti-corruption court in Kericho tomorrow Thursday
At the same time, the EACC has directed Japhet Kipngeno, Jawlink director who is still at large to report to the nearest EACC offices as soon as possible.
