Kalenjin Youth in Nakuru Refuse Division Ahead of 2022

A section of youths from Kalenjin community living drawn from various parts in Nakuru have refused to be profiled to have made up their minds to support any governorship candidate yet.

Adressing press at a Nakuru hotel, the over 50 youth declared that though their support towards the Deputy President William Ruto is unwavering, they will settle for a gubernatorial candidate who is mindful of their needs.

The caucus dubbed Nakuru Kalenjin Youth Caucus led by Sheila Chebelyon said they will be following with keen interests political developments at the county.

” We want to make it clear to the public that we don’t have any preferred candidate for Governorship yet. We will not vote for a person because he or she is just close ally to the Deputy President”Sheila said

Anthony Kipyegon, said, they have so far seen a certain leader using UDA party to divide the community and tempering with their affairs claiming that, she already has all Kalenjin votes in one basket.

” We have discussed with elders and this is the principle that we will use. We as the community will remain united and when that time comes, we will negotiate for our cake with aspirants and so we take the best offer, he said

They further warned that they will not take part in any division in UDA party that has already played out in Nakuru County urging DP Ruto to crack the whip, end the division and ensure all hustlers are treated equally.

The caucus further warned that real hustlers risk being locked out if a certain leader continues to divide and use insulting language agaisnt those who question her behaviour.
