Kuresoi South Member of Parliament Hon. Joseph Tanui is now between a rock and a hard surface after Deputy President William Ruto visited his constituency and directed him to organize how the Ksh. 1 million that he pledged would be shared among the mama Mboga and Boda Boda operators.
The MP allegedly says the DP didn’t give him the money and never specified whether it was meant for traders in Keringet only was meant to be shared among all the traders in his constituency.
“ I am giving the Ksh. 1 million ti Boda Boda operators and small scale traders such as mama Mbogo. I ask the area MP to organize together with other local leadership how the amount will be shared” the DP said in Keringet town.
As a result, the MPs opponents have taken advantage to mobilize small-scale traders to go for their share.
The MPs confidant confided with us that the MP on Wednesday and Friday morning went to DP Ruto’s Karen to follow up with the promise but came back empty-handed after he got no audience with the busy second in command who had tours in Central Kenya.
The MP who was heckled by a charged crowd during the DP’s event is now bitter believing that the pledge meant to fix him in favour of a certain candidate.
However, sources at the UDA inner circle at the County alleged that the MP was elected just because the DP endorsed him in 2017 when he visited Kapkembu in the Tinet area and so he should use his own cash and follow up later.
“ If the MP was elected because of the DP, he can’t be going round priding that he is in UDA yet he is are unable to protect the image of the DP by sorting out the traders and follow top later” a resident said
A section of the locals faults the MP for failing to organize his constituents to be supported by the DP.
“ The mess started with the MP who despite knowing that the DP was coming, never organized his constituents to be supported. That is why the DP went ahead to pledge. There was no way the DP could organize the small scale traders in Kuresoi” Kiplangat Ben said
