A section of the Deputy President’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) members and aspirants in Bomet County wants the party Secretary General Veronica Maina to immediately suspend the County coordinator Stephen Mutai amid bribery and biasness claims.
While a party official is expected to be neutral and serve all members and aspirants equally in-line with the party principles but it has emerged that Mr. Mutai has been arrogant to other aspirants after he was allegedly paid Ksh. 50 million by the sitting Governor.
” We call upon the UDA SG Veronica Maina to suspend Mr. Mutai as soon as tomorrow who has tainted UDA and sent early signals that the party nominations will be marred by favouritism,” Kibet Koech said
The locals say, the former Deputy Governor has been holding secret meetings at night strategizing how rig votes for the Governor and his preferred cronies at ward level.
” We are aware that Mutai who is hungry for many and power pocketted ksh. 50 million and was promised to be the next Deputy Governor should Barchok be re-elected,” Jane Chepkoech
After he was compromised, Mutai, is said to have swore that he will do all it takes to award nomination certificate to Barchok.
Mutai, who was former Governor Isaac Ruto’s Deputy is said to have no interests of the party but is driven by selfish greed.
“If this continues, locals will protest in favour of Isaac Ruto’s CCM party,” a source said
