Battle For Kuresoi South Between ZK, Tonui

2 min read

The race for Kuresoi South Parliamentary seat has narrowed to a two-horse race between Zakayo Cheruiyot and the incumbent Joseph Tonui.

The two seems to have outshined youthful politicians who didn’t manage to penetrate to the ground.

Zakayo who is seeking a third term enjoys a firm network of the youth and elders whom he has been suporting and have touched their lives.

He says, when the sitting MP came to office, he sabotaged the plan he had for the constituency which include a proposed KMTC and a university campus.

ZK hss been citing youth information centre at the constituency offices and a day school in Keringet Estate primary that Tonui came to hand over to primary.

Tonui However, enjoys the ever presence at the cosntituency since he was elected and has managed tl win the hearts of a section

He is accused of being biased by only benefiting those who voted for him. It is said that he used distribution of electricity connection to certain areas he believes to be his stronghold.

Tonui, has done no network and lobbying to win the hearts of senior politicians unlike ZK who has endeared himself close to party bigwigs, Veronica Maina, Johnston Muthama and Susan Kihika.

Cheruiyot last Saturday was spotted with Dr. Peter Ketyenya who is eying for the county’s second seat and Denis Mutai a youthful parliamentary aspirant.

With barely three weeks to nominations, supporters of the two rival leaders have been seen engaging in violent competitions.

Their competition to clinch UDA party ticket is between life and death because whoever gets the ticket will automatically win the August 9 General elections.
